Ways to Give Back

More than ever, Americans are depending on the resources provided by their communities to make ends meet. Donating to your local food pantry is a wonderful way to help neighbors and those struggling with food insecurity. If you want to help out in a way that makes a HUGE difference, purchase items that are always needed and short on supply.

Non perishable proteins

Non Perishable Proteins

Food banks can always use canned meats like tuna or chicken.  Nut butters like peanut or almond are great options. Beans are also a versatile form of protein, too!

Meals in Can or Box

Meals in a Can/Box

Things like soup, stew, chili or mac and cheese boxes contain all the ingredients needed for a quick an easy meal while still feeling like complete meal.

Low-sugar cereals

Low-Sugar Cereals

For many, kids especially, breakfast means a bowl of cereal. By providing low-sugar options, you are helping them get off to a great start.

Fruit Juice

100% Fruit Juice

Single serving juice options are a great portable option for kids – but any size is great as long as it’s actual “juice”.  Check the label and avoid those that are filled with high fructose corn syrup and include unhealthy fillers.

Canned Food

Canned Food

Canned food is the go-to for any food pantry.  Low-sodium vegetables and fruits that are canned in juice, rather than syrup, are great healthy options.

Cooking Essentials

Cooking Essentials

It is hard to make a meal that appeals to the taste buds without a little oil, salt and paper, or your favorite spices. These small additions can really transform a meal from bland and basic to terrific and tasty!

Don't Forget Baby

Don’t Forget Baby

Having a baby can be especially difficult for families hit hard by bad economic luck.  Consider including things for baby in your donation – especially diapers, wipes, baby foods, and formula.

Hygiene Items

Household Staples

Toilet paper. Toothpaste. Paper towels. Soap. Shampoo and Conditioner. Deodorant. Cleaning Supplies. These are the things everyone needs, but these necessities aren’t usually covered by food stamps. Giving personal hygiene items can really help someone’s dollar go further.
